merry christmas?

maybe a little late, but last weekend my friends and I had our litle chirstmas party. It's been really nice, with some holiday music in the background, some santa-decoration and the remnants from the christmas tree and a yummi roasted chicken from the oven.
it's been really cool, we played some games and finally presented each other our gifts.

this is what I gave:
Froggy, filled with grape kernels, it really feels good, the little kernels feel smooth, and the test (only one) I made in my microwave makes me think, that froggy will keep warm in these cold (and more often rainy) winter days.


and

Monster
I've seen something like this on etsy, but couldn't find it again to purchase one, so I made one myself. I found the idea to have a monster pet to keep watch over your remote control very cool. And it turned out to be a very loved gift. My friend touched Monster over and over again.


It made me happy to see them happy.

give me food and I will grow. This little frog measures about 25cm and is still waiting for its filling. I'm thinking of grape kernels, they're supposed to funtion like cherry kernels plus to stay warm for a longer time. I liked the idea of making a functional toy. Froggy will be warming some feet in cold winter nights. The only thing I worry about is if froggy's material, which is polyester, will be heatable. I hope at least in a microwave, does anybody have any experiences with "plastic" material in microwaves?
Well I'm gonna give it a try.

fütter mich!

Dieser kleine Geselle wartet schon sehnsüchtig auf seine Fertigstellung, was in seinem Fall vor allem bedeutet, dass er noch gerne eine Füllung bekommen würde. Ich hab an Traubenkerne gedacht, die sollen genauso funktionieren wie Kirschkerne und ausserdem noch länger warm bleiben. Ich mache mir allerdings noch Gedanken, ob sein Fell auch gerne erhitzt wird. Es ist ja Polyester und vielleicht verträgt sich das nicht so gut. Aber ich glaube in der Mikrowelle wirds schon gehen, hat da vielleicht jemand Erfahrungen? Naja, ich werde es auf alle Fälle ausprobieren.

I got new fake fur!

next saturday my friends and I are going to have our Xmas feast. U might wonder about this, but we found to find a date that fits everybodys schedule after christmas easier than to find one before. And so it became kind of traditional to have christmas in january.

soooo I came along the question what I might present. And this year plushies will be my gifts: a frog for my best friend Alex, who's collecting frogs (and I can post this here, cuz I know he's not reading); a monster plushie for another friend and my friend Melanie is starting to crochet, so I'll present her a pattern of mine plus the yarn and stuffing she'll need.

aren't they lovely?
I especially like the bunny, it's a variation of Winniefred, you might remember her from my flickr. I called the bunny Ute (it's actually the name of the person I made it for) and it resembles a lot my little easter bunny, mainly because of it's butt and the ears of course. Well I think it turned out really cute =)

I'm late, I know

Hey everybody, I'm back, not that I wasn't back home for about four weeks now, but I've been pretty busy, AND I didn't know where to start after all those non-post-days.

Well London was absolutely fabulous, so amazing, I could write a whole lotta more (I've made notes while spending a sunny afternoon at Hyde Park), but lets just keep it there, amazing is not enough to tell you how much I enjoyed the stay

Dear Prince, if you read this, thank you soo much, you've made me fall in love with music again, it's been a pleasure to see you on stage. THANK YOU!

Coming back home, I found the contract for my new job in my mailbox, yeah!
and also started the new job right away, the 'little' cough I brought home from one of my roommates was only able to stop me working for one day.
Although it stopped me knitting, coughs aren't something nice at all!

Did I knit at all?
no!, well I finished my lovesexy shrug the night before going to London, and meanwhile I like it (will post pics soon) even though I was seriously thinking about frogging it at first.
and crochet?
nothing as well, had my crocheting stuff with me, but wasn't allowed to bring my needles on the plane (I checked before, and guess the stewart just wasn't sure if I could bring such a dangerous thing on board or not and decided I better not, just in case)
had the idea of a hermit crab, guess I told before, but am now realizing it's christmas pretty soon and there are orders on my board to be done first


well that's it for now, will be back soon, promise =)

short update

so first my shruggi progresses, even if I didn't planed to do so, but knitting is less hard for my wrists than crocheting
apropos crocheting - I've finished my latest Sheldon, he's custom and waiting for his new mommy to catch him (and he's sitting on my new printer, yay)


and while putting him together I had the idea of a hermit crab amigurumi, I might be crochting it on my trip to London, which starts in two days and curiously enough I don't feel any nervousness or anything alike, yet
and that's really strange because the hole act of buying the tickets and stuff was totally against my nature and all, I'm not a spontanous person, one should think I might feel something, but there is really nothing, well there is this feeling of 'hopefully, I'm not forgetting anything', but that is really all - strange
well, lets see what happens tomorrow


Also, was gibts neues, mein Bolero wächst immer weiter, jetzt sind schon drei Knäuel drin. und ich hab natürlich auch meinen Sheldon fertig gekriegt, wurde ja auch Zeit, seine neue Mutti wartet schon.
Und während ich ihn so zusammenfügte, da hatte ich plötzlich die Vision eines Einsiedlerkrebs-Amigurumis, den werde ich vielleicht auf meinem Weg nach London machen.
Und London rückt auch immer näher und kurioserweise macht mich das in keinster Weise irgendwie nervös. Und das ist sehr merkwürdig, man sollte annehmen, dass eine Reise ganz allein in die weite Welt einen irgendwie beeinflussen sollte.
Naja, mal sehen wie es morgen aussieht, momentan versuch ich nur meine Tasche zu packen und ja nichts zu vergessen.

lovesexy grows again, after realizing that I need to make both shoulder parts before starting to knit in the round and making the ribbing, I made both shoulders and started to rib for about four rows (just until my ball of yarn was all eaten up)
and that was the point when I said to myself IT IS TIME TO CROCHET, DUDE !!!

so I started on another Sheldon - lovely

and this morning I received mail that the new issue of knitty was out, uuuuuh lovely so much more
I think I'm gonna make Henry, the stitch pattern is adorable (might even be nice for knee-highs, mh) and of course woodins, well not the woodins themselfs but the tree trunk, that's just great and would be perfect for my trolls: to play hide and seek maybe (who knows what they're doing when I'm not around ;-)

lovesexy wächst weiter, gestern hab ich bemerkt, dass ich erst beide Schulterteile fertig machen muss, ehe ich anfangen kann den breiten Bund rundrum zu stricken. Also hab ich beide Schulterteile gestrickt und mit dem Bund begonnen, zumindest für vier Reihen, weil dann mein Bällchen alle war, aber das war der Zeitpunkt als mir ganz und gar klar wurde, dass ES ZEIT ZUM HÄKELN IST; KUMPELINE !

und so hab ich einen neuen Sheldon angefangen - niedlich

und heut früh kam Post, dass die neue Ausgabe von knitty fertig ist, noch viel hübscher. Ich werd wohl auf alle Fälle Henry machen, das Muster ist fantastisch und gibt vielleicht auch einen hübschen Strumpf ab, mal gucken.
Und OH da sind noch die woodins, naja nicht die woodins selbst aber ihr Baumstamm, der ist toll und wird ein tolles Accessoir für meine Trolle abgeben, wer weiß schon was die treiben, wenn ich nicht zu Hause bin ;-)
